Raffel has lived in Cincinnati nearly his entire life. He was born in Avondale. He spent his formative years in the West End and Avondale. Raffel is a retired Fire District Chief of the Cincinnati Fire Department with 32 years of faithful and dutiful service. Raffel is also a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the Army Reserves after 32 years of meritorious and honorable service.
In 2011, he served overseas during the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars where he served with distinction. He has held many leadership positions in the Fire Department and in the Army, for which he has received several awards and decorations.
He has received several certifications from Cincinnati State. He has earned undergraduate degrees from the University of Cincinnati and Excelsior College. He also holds a master’s degree in Urban Sustainability and Resilience from Xavier University. He has served in many Cincinnati community-based organizations whose aims have been to improve the lives of its citizens.
Raffel resides in Avondale with his wife Sonya and their three daughters.
